Stonehenge-through the generations

Great to be able to show them something new.

Time goes on

Stonehenge according to Matts-it's all in the details...

and the planes...
and the wildlife..

and the military...

and the wildlife.

Can't believe we've been here a year.

Little C isn't so little any more.

G's still small, but gained lots of skillz

Not a bad way to spend a year :)

Not bad at all (just look at how thrilled our children look to be seeing the world :)

Grandma Diane and Grandpa Don Come to Town

Grandma Diane and Grandpa Don came into town on Christian's 3rd birthday. They were great sports and hit the ground running to join in our celebrations.

A beautiful day meant walking through the park to dinner.

For all his craziness C is actually quite good at screeching to a stop when necessary and keeping  the scooting rules. After going as far as allowed he like to turn and give a thumbs-up; just so you know that he knows the rules.

The Serpentine

We've been watching this Swan for 2 weeks, hoping her eggs will hatch soon.

Matts soon became obsessed with Grandpa's camera. Grandpa was very generous and patient and taught Matts the basics. Some of his shots aren't half-bad.

Others are more "artistic"

So happy to show Grandma the town.

Birthday celebration

The next day we headed out early to check out the British Library

And we even got to sneak away for a show :)

Kensington Gardens

The Princess Diana playground is just a few blocks from our house and one of our favorite spots. Thanks to Grandpa's photography tutorial and the boy's "practice" we now have a record of where we've spent countless hours and clung to our sanity.

Hampton Court

Two days after Grandma and Grandpa got here, Reed had to head out to Dubai. Since Grandman Diane loves gardens, we decided to make the most of our weekend and head out to Hampton Court. It's been funny to see what the boys latch onto from our schooling. In this case, the rhyme; divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, lived was chanted repeatedly as we toured Henry VIII's favorite residence.

Enjoying the grounds

G was a huge fan of the maze, so we ran through it quite a few times, until the rain began in earnest.
We didn't make it to Holland during tulip season, but these beds made we wish we had.

Fun story-For the first time Christian wet his pants in public, on a moving train, very thoroughly. Being the prepared Mother that I am I had an extra set of undies and shorts. Unfortunately it was freezing and raining. Luckily, being the prepared Mother that I am I also keep an extra pair of fleece leggings for myself in my bag. Turns out Lycra is very versa

In which I become certifiably LAME, aka a post on the weather

Our year in London has just happened to be the coldest/wettest year in over 100 years. We'd heard the winters were rough, but I don't think we fully realized the impact the weather can have on mood, attitudes and overall enjoyment of life. When the sun is out, London is a wonderful place. People are out and about, smiling and soaking up rays. When it's cold and rainy...it can get old.  On the flipside, when it's covered in snow, London becomes a winter wonderland. And Hyde Park in the snow? Completely magical.
